Putnam Indian Field School is an independent, co-educational pre-school for toddlers through pre-kindergarten.

Our mission, at Putnam Indian Field School (PIFS), is to inspire confidence, curiosity, creativity and a sense of community and citizenship in every child we teach.

Established as the result of a merger in 1978 between two well-known Greenwich nursery schools, the school represents over 70 years of combined experience in serving community children. Organized as an educational, non-profit corporation, and operated by a Board of Trustees made up of school parents.

PIFS is licensed by the State of Connecticut and accredited as a program of excellence by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). In the spring of 2016, PIFS became a Connecticut Green LEAF School.

We ALSO now offer both half- and extended-day classes depending on the age of child.

Resource Rooms

Putnam Indian Field School recognizes that young children enjoy working and learning in small groups with lots of teacher attention. In expanding our facilities, we made sure to create spaces for children and teachers to focus together without undue noise and interruption. The Resource rooms are where this kind of learning takes place.
