Established in 1980, German International School New York (GISNY), an independent Pre-K through Grade 12 college preparatory program, is located in Westchester County, New York, 30 minutes north of New York City and 15 minutes south of Greenwich, Connecticut.

GISNY’s bilingual education and rigorous academics with an emphasis on the sciences cultivate students to develop into curious, analytical, and conscientious global citizens. We are the only school in the tristate area, where graduates earn the NYS High School Diploma and the German International Abitur, a globally recognized diploma, which facilitates access to universities worldwide.

Our Pre-K and Kindergarten programs offer a bright, spacious, and nurturing environment, and with our new Nature Based Early Childhood Education Program (NBECE), our students are enjoying most of their school day outdoors exploring, learning, and playing on our beautiful 20-acre campus. Children entering our Pre-K or Kindergarten programs are not required to speak or understand German and build the foundation of being bilingual by first grade.

Academics

German International School New York (GISNY) is known for its innovative international educational excellence for over forty years. Children entering our Pre-K or Kindergarten programs are not required to speak or understand German and will build the foundation of being bilingual by first grade. All students study English beginning in Pre-K and begin a third language in sixth grade.

We are committed to helping students reach their potential in a safe, friendly and stimulating environment that fosters critical thinking as well as appreciation for diversity.

Our program spans across all academic disciplines as well as the arts and sports. Our curriculum is supported and enhanced by science and technology resources, such as SmartBoards, iPads, laptops and labs for hands-on science experiments.

As a perfect complement to our strong curriculum our new state-of-the-art Science Wing will be completed this fall with a full revision of the science classrooms and the addition of a Maker Space (Science Lab), which will make projects in the fields of design thinking, life sciences, and artificial intelligence possible.

Working with a dedicated faculty and staff, students benefit from the school's rigorous curriculum, close-knit community, and interactions with the vibrant local culture. Students leave GISNY thoroughly prepared to continue their education in first-class learning institutions around the world.
