PHOTO GALLERY: 2019 Dazzling Dahlias Show - Greenwich Botanical Center

This weekend, it was a whirlwind of kaleidoscopic color over at the Greenwich Botanical Center during their (FREE) 2019 Dazzling Dahlias Show!

The dahlia is the national flower of Mexico. With their pleasing geometry, perfect symmetry, rainbow of eye-candy colors, and availability in a vivid variety of shapes and sizes, with petals that can be spiky, wispy, round, thin, or any of a half-dozen of other variations - it's no surprise that the National Garden Bureau has declared 2019 as the 'Year of the Dahlia'!

This year's show at the Greenwich Botanical Center presented an amazing opportunity to meet world class growers and view one-of-a-kind blooms. We couldn't believe our eyes!

Some of the highlights included "ketchup and mustard" dahlias grown by a local Dahlia aficionado in her private Greenwich garden AND a purple, dinner-plate style, Thomas Edison Dahlia (one of the oldest Dahlia's cultivated in the US).

Coming Soon at the Greenwich Botanical Center: October 3rd Greenhouse Garden Dinner

Join GBC and award-winning Chef Geoff Lazlo for a farm-to-table dinner on Thursday, October 3, 2019 at 6:00 p.m.

Dinner will include a specialty cocktail and four-course meal inspired by the seasonal vegetables and herbs grown in the GBC teaching vegetable garden.

This salon-style event will encourage discussion, led by Chef Geoff and GBC Board President Meg McAuley Kaicher, about the importance of ecologically sound cuisine that is seasonal and grown in harmony with our local environment.
