VIDEO: Greenwich High School Student Wins Google Science Fair, Blows Stephen Colbert's Mind

'Guys, I'd love to go to The LEGO Movie with you, but I've got fight a global pandemic first.'

That's Stephen Colbert with his mind blown, trying to imagine what it's like to be Olivia Hallisey, a junior at Greenwich High School who just happens to have won the 2015 Google Science Fair Grand Prize and a $50,000 college scholarship by developing a $25 Ebola test that can be done in 30 minutes, without any need for refrigeration. Current tests on the market that need to be refrigerated can cost $1,000 and take up to 12 hours to complete.

Hundreds of Greenwich residents turned out today for the annual Polar Bear Plunge at Tod's Point. And true to our town heritage, an enterprising neighbor took the opportunity to raise money for local charity Kids In Crisis. Despite the chilly weather, grey skies and icy cold Long Island Sound, the outpouring of support warmed hearts and raised spirits of all who attended.

The 7th Annual Greenwich Holiday Stroll Weekend wrapped up today and was a win-win weekend for shoppers, merchants and those looking to ignite some holiday spirit.

Throughout the weekend, Greenwich was alive with fun, family oriented holiday events. Live holiday music entertainment was provided by no less than 12 musical groups throughout the 2-day event. Five gourmet food trucks offered everything from lobster rolls to specialty grilled cheese to the Dough Girls' fantastic pizza.

Emilie Chang Ho didn’t set out to be a chef and healthy lifestyle advocate. But after a pre-diabetic diagnosis, this mother of two knew she had to make a change.  “I adopted a ‘Paleo lifestyle,’” she explains. “People think it’s a ‘caveman’ diet, but that’s really a misconception. It’s a whole and nutrient-rich foods-based diet.”
