Making the Magic Happen in Greenwich - Magician Ben Zabin Performs for a Hometown Audience

From simple sleights of hand, through illusions that boggle the mind - get ready for an astonishing act that you won't soon forget from a Greenwich legend-in-the-making!

Ben Zabin is a Greenwich native and 2017 graduate of Greenwich High who has been delighting audiences nationwide with his magic for the past 15 years. But, rest assured, he is not your average Magician -- as you will see when Ben performs his magic for one day only on Saturday, January 20th at Central Middle School's Performing Arts Center.

Trust us...YOU WILL NOT WANT TO MISS, the Magic of Ben Zabin!

All funds raised go directly toward supporting impactful community projects that are identified, designed and implemented by the Junior League of Greenwich.

Patti Finkelstein of Living Greenwich had the opportunity to sit down to an interview with Ben Zabin in anticipation of his upcoming Magic Show.

This was their conversation:

Thanks for meeting with us, Ben. Let's begin by having you tell us how you get involved with magic?

I got a magic set when I was 4 years old and I never looked back! I've always loved performing, and magic gave me the creative outlet to express myself.

How has your show changed over the years?

As I've grown older, I've learned more about myself and therefore who I am as a magician. My show has definitely become more 'me', and after doing nearly a hundred shows every year, the magic (hopefully) gets better!

What is your favorite kind of magic to perform?

I love performing magic in front of a large audience... the energy I feel when amazing hundreds or thousands of people at once is the best!

The Junior League of Greenwich has played a major role in establishing a wealth of services for our community. What made you decide to headline a show for their benefit?

The JLG does so much good for our community, and I felt by doing these shows was my way of giving back. Greenwich has been so good to me that I'm always happy to do anything I can to reciprocate.

What can the audience expect from your show on the 20th?

It's going to be a BLAST! Expect a fast-paced, high action fusion of sleight of hand, mind-reading, family friendly comedy, and Las Vegas style Illusion! The adults will have just as much fun as the kids.

You have performed all over the country. How does it feel to conduct a show in your own "backyard"?

It's always a lot of fun coming to perform for hometown audiences... they're the best! My tour and travel schedule brings me all over the map, but I always look forward to coming home. That, combined with supporting such a great cause as the JLG is just an amazing feeling.

Where will you be performing in the next 6 months?

Oh man-- too many places to list! I'll be all over the country performing in theaters and high-scale private events. Before I bring a brand new show on tour later this year, I'm actually in talks about debuting it in Greenwich in the spring of 2018! I'll keep you posted on that!

What do you like to do for fun? Where are some of your favorite places in Greenwich?

I love going to see Broadway shows, I love to read, and I love helping people. My favorite spot in Greenwich is actually probably the roof of my mom's house... I used to spend countless nights up there gazing at the stars! But don't tell my mom I was on the roof! I also really love Tod's Point and the Montgomery Pinetum.
