Living Greenwich #DineLocal Restaurant Showcase
More than 33 years ago, John Karipides opened his arms to the people of Byram and the doors to Famous Pizza and Souvlaki. If you loved what he cooked up then, you’re in for a treat! After more than three decades, this “famous” local eatery has been passed down from one generation to the next
John’s son Steve, a graduate of Culinary Institute of America, has expanded the traditional Greek menu with simple, healthful, homemade dishes. Behind the scenes, John’s daughter, Maria is working to ensure the prompt service you’ve come to know, while you can see daughter, Sophia out front – she’s the smiling face who greeted you and the designer of our warm and modern interior.
Famous Greek Kitchen hopes to provide you and your family with a warm, fine dining experience at the affordable prices that John always insisted upon. Famous Greek Kitchen offers a delicious range of authentic Greek, Mediterranean cuisine to American stylings. From the souvlaki to our pizza- we have it all. Stop by today!

What does Mẹcha mean?
It means "Mom and Pop" in Vietnamese. We are paying homage to our upbringing and to all of the hidden gems across the country. (It should be noted that you only use the two words together [Mẹ Cha] when you are cursing at someone).
What is the food like?
From Vietnamese Pho to Japanese Ramen -- we serve some of Asia's most comforting dishes. Among other things, we do riffs on food that can be found in the streets of Southeast Asia. Don't call us "fusion" or a sushi restaurant, there are plenty of those in Connecticut. We are American-Vietnamese-Japanese-Thai-Chinese-Korean-New England-Momofuku-Totto-and-Ippudo-inspired.
Do you take reservations?
No. We accommodate all parties on a first come first serve basis.
Do you offer free-range meats and organic produce?
We work hard to buy local and natural products when possible and practical. Some of our suppliers are: Custom Meats; Sun Noodle; Holbrook Farm; Farmer's Cow; and more!
