With school starting up again and autumn on the doorstep, the time has arrived for us to present the 2019 installment of our Living Greenwich Fall Activities Guide.
This particular Living Greenwich guide is designed to serve as a valuable resource for local parents as they research Fall activities and programs certain to enrich the lives (and increase the skill sets) of their children - all while providing ample opportunities to widen their social circles and create fun autumn memories, too!

From dabbling with amateur interests - all the way through striving for competition-level results. High quality programs begin September 3:
- The YWCA Greenwich Steven & Alexander Cohen Preschool for ages 15 months to 5 years is a 10-month program that includes age-appropriate STEAM activities and is the only area preschool that includes six special classes in gymnastics, music, Spanish, swimming, yoga and visits from Stamford Nature Center as part of the tuition. Open House October 22, 10:00 am – noon.
- Kaleidoscope After-School Program for ages Kindergarten – 5 th grade combines homework, enrichment and sports to help children build on classroom learning while having fun. STEAM activities are a key component of the program.
- The new YW Hub is a perfect hangout for middle-school girls and boys. The new after-school program allows students to be with friends, share ideas, do homework and participate in sports and other activities they choose in a safe and supervised environment.
- YWCA Dolphins Swim School for ages 6 month to teens. American Red Cross Certified instructors are experts in helping even the most timid students learn to swim.
- Greenwich Junior Babe Ruth Baseball, ages 13 -15. Tryouts are on August 17, at Strazza Field, Greenwich, 9 – 11 a.m.
- YWCA Gymnastics programs range from ages 16 months through 12 years.
- Indoor and outdoor Tennis Lessons for age 3 – 13 years are taught by expert instructor Hugh Underhill
- No matter what level, YWCA Junior Golf instruction will help your child improve their game! Ages 5 – 12

The Silvermine School of Art with its renowned faculty of artist-educators presents abundant opportunities for individuals of all ages to enjoy and learn about the arts.
The award-winning School is the preeminent learning destination for visual arts in Fairfield County with more than 4,000 annual enrollments. Hundreds of courses and workshops in numerous disciplines are offered through the School that will accommodate the busiest of schedules.
Classes are offered in ceramics, digital imaging, drawing, glass working, jewelry, mixed media, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, woodworking, silversmithing, and special studies.
Courses are designed for full and part-time students of all ages and levels, from beginners to professional artists. In addition to adult programs, the school features courses and workshops for children and teens throughout the year as well as family workshops for children and parents to experience art together.
In the summer we offer week long Art Studios for ages 4-12 and Teen Workshops for ages 13-17.
The fall semester begins on September 16 through December 18. Courses meet once a week for 12 weeks for adults and children ages 3 to 17. There are classes for the rank beginner as well as for the experienced artist, all levels are welcome. Courses meet during the day, evenings and on weekends.

At MSQUASH we offer the coolest courts you have ever seen. Interactive walls with real-life games while playing squash. This is a great way to burn energy, have fun, enjoy your time together, and have a good workout!
MSQUASH founders Shaun and Katline fell in love with this technology when they built their squash center last year. MSQUASH Accelerator is designed to grow strong and happy people. With the philosophy of mindset, movement, and match strategy the aim is to develop strong players who can face any challenge, whether that is in athletics or personal life.
Why do the kids like MSQUASH?

It does not matter if you can play squash, or if you have never held a racket before. The games are designed to improve visual learning for kids and give them instant feedback.

Greenwich Crew offers programs year-round for both boys and girls in the 6th through 12th grades. Greenwich Crew offers several options depending on whether an athlete has recreational or competitive ambitions, including weekend and summer programs to introduce young athletes to the sport. Each program aims to support participants as they work toward their individual goals, as well as foster the bonds between teammates that will last a lifetime.
The competitive Greenwich Crew Junior Program has continued to excel season after season, gaining local, statewide and national acclaim for its athletes and programs.
Our staff of professional coaches are committed to helping each athlete learn, train, and push their limits to become a champion or reach new heights as a part of a team.
Many of our most dedicated athletes finish their high school experience being sought out by top universities. Our juniors have been recruited by Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Dartmouth, University of Pennsylvania, Brown, Duke, Notre Dame, University of Wisconsin, Bucknell University and Columbia.
Whether your child is showing a newly blossomed interest in pursuing the dancing arts, or already has a firm foundation of intermediate (or advanced) dance instruction behind them, Dance Adventure AND the Dance Center of Greenwich offer a wide range of dance education opportunities certain to sharpen the skills of budding amateurs -- all the way through to aspiring professionals.
Now in its 27th season, Dance Adventure and the Dance Center of Greenwich have been the favorite choice for dancers of all ages for ballet, pointe, hip hop, tap, jazz, Irish, and modern. Since its first year in 1991, the studio has taught over six thousand students from the Greenwich, Stamford and Westchester area.
Director, Nola Van Alstine, is an accomplished performer and award-winning teacher. She apprenticed with the Eric Hawkins Dance Company in New York City, and later joined the Carol Conway Dance Company, where she taught company classes for young professionals. She performed at Lincoln Center and countless other venues for modern dance in New York City and the USA.
She became the Dance Specialist at the Westside Montesorri School, and taught at private schools in Manattan including the Grace Church School, Third Street Settlement School and was Head Instructor of the Young Dancer's Division at Ballet Academy East.
Miss Nola's philosophy embraces teaching dance technique with imaginative illustration, and students receive personalized attention. While Dance Adventure focuses on younger student's, the school's second division, The Dance Center of Greenwich, concentrates on curriculum for older students up to pre-professional in Ballet, Pointe, Hip Hop, Jazz, Tap, Modern and Irish Dance.
