Living Greenwich Camps + Programs Showcase 2022
Armonk Tennis Club is gearing up for its 25th year of summer camp. Since 1998, we have provided children of all ages with fun and instructive experiences ranging from tennis to multi-sport to science and art. Our current lineup of programs includes Armonk International Tennis Academy, Camp Armonk Sports, and Mad Science, which has a new full-day option this year.
Armonk International Tennis Academy (Ages 6-17)
With separate Advanced and Junior camps, AITA is suitable for players of all abilities. Elite players will take their game to the next level through intensive group drilling, private instruction, fitness training, and more. Meanwhile, beginners and casual players progress through skill-building games, situational play, and supervised matches.
Camp Armonk Sports (Grades K-5)
Kids enjoy a variety of athletic activities at Camp Armonk Sports. Soccer, tennis, basketball, and swimming are just some of the sports they'll learn, practice, and compete in. They'll also play games like capture the flag, gaga, and dodgeball.
Mad Science (Grades K-5)
Mad Science uses interactive activities to teach both practical and amazing science lessons. Each week focuses on a different theme, allowing kids to fully explore and understand the scientific principles behind it. In the afternoons, campers can either join Camp Armonk Sports or, for the first time, continue with science and art activities. They can also choose a half-day option.
Cardinal Baseball Camp will be in session for the summer of 2022 at a location TBD. The Town of Greenwich has guaranteed Loughlin Avenue and Julian Curtiss Elementary school or Central Middle School. We just haven’t been told which field(s) yet as we are waiting on summer school locations to come out.
Camp will be Monday-Thursday this year from 9:00-12:00 and only meet on Friday’s if there are rain date make-ups. The exception is the week of July 4th when Camp will be Tuesday, July 5- Friday, July 8. If there is a rain out that week, we will allow the camper to come to one of the following sessions in weeks 3 or 4.
There will be no double sessions as the Town of Greenwich needs to work on our fields after noon for evening youth baseball games.
The Town has allowed us to put up portable batting cages at the fields which will ensure that campers get to work on all facets of the game while in their skills sessions.
Campers are being asked to sign up for 4 weeks (full session June 27--July 21st or July 22nd - if there is a rain date).
Price is $350 per week or $1300 for all 4 weeks. We still honor our sibling 10% discount.
Camp in 2022 is in session for its 20th summer. Former Greenwich High School Head Baseball Coach of 16 seasons, Mike Mora, and his staff provide a fun learning environment, while stressing the fundamentals of baseball.
Skills and drills begin at 9:00am and a game is played daily from 10:45-12:00 noon (when campers are to be picked up).
On a daily basis, campers receive instruction in how to throw with the proper form. Proper catching tips are given at this time as well. Coach Mora believes that "Throwing and catching are the most important parts of the game at any level of baseball. If players can throw the ball where they want to, without hurting themselves, they have given themselves the chance to be very successful."
During the skills stations, campers are taught the finer points of the game. The campers rotate through stations such as: pitching, base- running, catching, infield, outfield, hitting, and bunting. Some days this time is spent on infield/outfield practice when the campers learn where to throw the ball during certain key game situations. Games are played daily after drills.
