Welcome to the 2019 Living Greenwich Preschool Guide - a local resource for Greenwich-area parents seeking in-depth information on some of the preschool and Pre-K programs available for their children.
Why Preschool? For many of our children, preschool represents their first experience in a structured setting with teachers and groups of other children. Preschool is the place where skill sets that will serve our children well into the rest of their lives begin to find their formal foundations. Learning to share. Following instructions. Social and emotional development. Language and cognitive skills. Developing curiosity. Pre-math and literacy skills. Motor skills. The list of benefits go on and on...
This is precisely why we're bringing the 2019 Living Greenwich Preschool Guide to our community. We want to provide local parents with the information necessary to assist them in choosing a high quality Pre-K program that suits their child (and family). We've striven to include programs where the young learners in our town will be well-cared for, enjoy an array of beneficial activities, make new friends, and build the knowledge, skills, and confidence to do well in kindergarten.
The schools and programs that are a part of this guide look forward to meeting you and your children, offering tours of their facilities, and answering all of the questions you may have as you weigh the options searching for a perfect fit.
It's never too early to begin making Pre-K plans for your child! We encourage you to reach out and open conversations with the Preschools that interest you today!

Welcome to First Presby! Our tradition in the community began with our founding over 50 years ago!
We have expanded through the years to serve children from nursery through pre-kindergarten in nine classrooms. We are located at the top of Greenwich Avenue, housed in both the beautiful First Presbyterian Church, and the storybook Nursery School building across the way.
Here at First Presby, we are passionate about inspiring your children. Our exceptional teachers create a rich, stimulating curriculum, individualized to meet the needs of the children. We are purposeful in following the Connecticut Early Learning Standards. These standards support children to be creative, be inquisitive, be flexible, be critical thinkers, be purposeful and reflective, and be social learners. In short, we want the children to develop a love of learning through experiences that are meaningful to them. Our teachers engage with our children so that they grow socially, emotionally, and cognitively.
We value our families, and we strive to create a sense of community with our joyful children, our nurturing teachers and our supportive families. Our families create life-long friendships, and remain close with each other long after they leave First Presby. Our graduates frequently visit to let us know how much they loved their time with us!

“Students in Children's House learn to approach new challenges with confidence. They are empowered to become creative, well-informed, passionate and joyful learners and citizens of the world.”
Your child's story begins in Founder's Hall, the part of Whitby School that is home to the Stepping Stones and Primary classrooms which together make up their Children's House. The Children’s House is dedicated to educating Whitby's youngest learners. The motto here is “Follow the Child”. In well-ordered, developmentally appropriate classrooms, under the guidance of expertly trained, experienced and caring teachers, children’s own love of exploration allows them to take the lead in their learning.
Children’s House is designed specifically to foster social and cognitive development and to lay the foundation for learning in multiple academic areas. Different learning sections of the room thoughtfully encourage children to explore practical life activities, sensorial experiences, math, language, culture and science.
Students in Children's House learn to approach new challenges with confidence. They are empowered as readers, writers, critical thinkers and mathematicians to become creative, well-informed, passionate and joyful learners and citizens of the world.
